This is not a website. This is a Blog (Weblog)
A friend of mine once asked me, "What is a blog or a weblog?" The answer is simple. What you see here is a blog and not a website. A blog is also known as an online journal or an online diary. So you can write whatever stuff you want to write following the terms and conditions of the Blog's Provider. You can write your entry every day, once a week, once a month or even once a year, it is all up to you because it is all yours. If you want to get a FREE Blog just like this one that I am using here, first you have to register with a Blog Provider. There are many FREE Blog Providers on the internet, eg. Blogspot, Blogspirit, Blog-City just to name some. Like this one that I am using, I register with a Blog Provider called Blogdrive. And it is FREE, you dont have to pay a single cent. But offcourse you know when it is 'FREE' the Blog Provider have the right to put an advertisement at the top of every Blog. I register for this FREE Blog and I was given a url http://recitors.blogdrive.com (which is now mine). Since I love to listen to the Quran Recitation of famous and top Egyptian qaris, I have decided to compile information on this in my blog. I choose to write about Quran Recitors and things that are related to modulated or mujawad Quran Recitation. I got some of the informations here while surfing the net. So I decided to put in in my Blog for my easy reference so that I can refer to it when I need it. At the same time I would also like to share the information with others too. Just a gentle reminder, this is my online journal or diary and I am not selling CD or anything here. The information that I put here, the short audio clip of Quran Recitation that I put here are for my own reference. And I would appreciated it if you happen to see any wrong information here, please supply me with a correct one. As I said earlier, I am happy to share what I have here with others so that they are aware that there are many kind of modulated / tajwid of Quran Recitation by many famous qaris from Egypt, Middle East. It is with good intention that I listed out the names of these qaris and a short sample of their Quran Recitation. So if you happen to be in any CD or cassette shop in your country, you may ask or look for the recording of these qaris (names listed in my blog). Or you may also serve the internet base on these names and download their recitation. I believe, together we can preserve these beautiful Quran Recitation by Egyptian qaris as they are the muslim most valuable treasure. I would also like to encourage my muslim brothers & sisters to create their own blog. Register for a FREE Blog now so that we can build a small Quran Recitation community online and link to each other. If you need any assistance to create your own FREE Blog, please do not hesitate to contact me and I will be most happy to help you. My disclamer This Blog is solely mine. I have every right to express my feelings or write whatever I want here. Please dont tell me what I can write or what I cannot write in my own diary. If you dont like what you see or read here, by all means stop viewing and browsing because you are not welcome to read my diary. My motto is simple... if you want to be respected, please respect others too. Thank you.

Assalamualaikum,
We have fasted for more than 2 weeks. Tonight, Insya Allah, we mark again the historic Nuzul Quran, the night where the first revelation was sent by Allah s.w.t to our beloved Prophet Muhammad s.a.w.
The first revelation that was sent is the word 'Iqra' or 'Read'. This shows how important knowledge is for Muslims. With reading we gain knowledge. As our knowledge expands, so thus our lives enrich, in this world and the next. A person with knowledge will always be respected, no matter if he is poor. A person with knowledge will always have an honourable place in the community.
Saidina Ali said that there are three differences between knowledge and material wealth. First: Knowledge takes care of us while we have to take care of wealth. Second: Knowledge increases as we share while riches diminish when we share. Third: Knowledge cannot be stolen while wealth can.
Worldly knowledge can guarantee prosperity in life on earth. There is another kind of Knowledge that guarantees our life in the Hereafter. This best of Knowledge is the Knowledge or Al-Quran. Rasulullah s.a.w said:
The best of you studies the Al Quran and teaches it."
My muslim brothers & sisters, in conjunction with the holy Ramadhan, the month that is also called the month of Al-Quran, let us together recite the Al-Quran with more vigour. If in one year, we hardly open the pages of Al-Quran, let us take advantage of this month of ibadah, to read the Al-Quran more frequently. If in other months we could not complete the reading of Al-Quran, let us do so in Ramadhan. Rasulullah s.a.w said in a hadith relayed by Imam Ahmad:
"Fasting and Al-Quran bring syafaat to a servant, so says the fast: Oh my Lord, Verily I have prevented him from eating and drinking in the day, so give me leave to give syafaat to him. And thus says Al-Quran: Oh my Lord, I have kept him from sleeping in the night, so please let me give syafaat to him. And the two, Fasting and Al-Quran are allowed to give syafaat."
May Allah bless us all, insyaAllah.

Top Egyptian Quran Reciter Sheikh Shaaban As Sayiad

I can still remember the first time I saw Sheikh Shaaban As Sayiad in person. I couldn't believe my eyes, and I thought that I was dreaming. But I am not cause it is real. Sheikh Shaaban came to Singapore during the fasting month of Ramadhan in December 2000.
Sheikh Shaaban recites the holy quran in many mosques in Singapore. I and my friends were so happy that we followed him to every mosque that he went just to listen to his beautiful quran recitation. His recitation was so powerful, so touching... that one can immediately think of how great Allah is. SubhanauAllah.....
I found some of Shiekh Shaaban recitation from Aswat Al Islam website. Here is one of his recitation.

Top ranking Egyptian Quran Recitor Sheikh Abdul Basit Abdul Samad

Sheikh Abdul Basit Abdul Samad was born in year 1927. He came to Cairo from the city of Armant in Upper Egypt in 1950, having established his reputation in the south. He is the first reciter in his family, but his grandfather was a religious scholar of al-Azhar training. Sheikh Abdul Basit is probably the best-known of Egyptian reciters outside of Egypt, as he was the first to make commercial recordings of his reciting, and he has traveled extensively outside of Egypt. Among his recordings are the complete text of the Quran in both murattal and mujawwad. Sheikh Abdul Basit is one of the four top-ranking reciters in Egypt. He was the first president of the newly formed Reciters' Union. Sheikh Abdul basit was admired for breath control and his high and clear voice.

Most Effective Quran Recitor of his century - Sheikh Mustafa Ismail
Sheikh Mustafa Ismail learned the Quran and at the age of fifteen or sixteen he went to study at the Azhar Institute in Tanta. He studied the quranic sciences and planned to continue his studies at Azhar University in Cairo, but was encouraged to become a recitor and establish his reputation in 1930s. Sheikh Mustafa was invited to recites for King Farouk during the month of Ramadan, 1944. He joined the radio soon after, having negotiated for longer recordings, as his voice needed a minimum of time to warm up. Sheikh Mustafa admired the recitation of Sheikh Muhammad Rif'at. He did not study music formally, but mastered the art by listening and from his associations with the best musicians of his day. Sheikh Mustafa travelled extensively and was known abroad from his personal appearances. Although as a top-ranking reciter he recorded the complete text of the Quran in both the murattal and mujawwad styles, his recordings are not generally available outside Egypt. Sheikh Mustafa was the official recitor of Anwar Al Sadat and travelled with him to Jurusalem in 1978. He is considered one of the most effective reciters of his century, extremely innovative musically, yet correct in tajweed. One can count a generation of younger recitors among his imitators. At the time of his death, Shiekh Mustafa was recitor at the prestigious Al Azhar mosque.
